Child Support Information

In divorce (or paternity/custody) cases involving children, the issue of child support will need to be addressed. To determine child support, the judges of the Fourth District Court follow the Idaho Child Support Guidelines. A notarized Affidavit Verifying Income must be submitted to the court for the purpose of computing child support. Family Court Servicesí staff are available to calculate child support for new divorce or custody cases and modifications. Parties may come into the office at the Ada County Courthouse on the fourth floor during business hours and staff will calculate child support and print the Income Affidavit and Child Support Worksheets for parties. Parties must provide staff with relevant information regarding both parties income, the parities parenting schedule, health care premiums paid by either party, and who plans to claim the children for tax dependency. For parties out of the Boise area please call (208) 287-7600.

In general, child support is due beginning the first day of the month after the order for child support is filed with the Clerk of the Court. With legislation effective in October of 1998, new child support cases are processed through the Department of Health and Welfare unless otherwise ordered. For more information, contact the Department of Health and Welfare at (208) 334-2479 or Idaho Child Support Receipting, P.O. Box 70008, Boise, ID 83707-0108.
